The94Percent

Welcome to The 94 Percent.

We have a lot to say.

We're Turning One!

We're Turning One!

Whew! It’s been a year! Can you believe it? I can’t. It seems that the year has flown by, but believe it or not, our blog has made one full revolution around the sun. We. Did. That.

It would be a lie to say that this year has been easy. I don’t think that when we really knew how steep the learning curve was when we started a blog. I think we vastly underestimated how hard it is to produce new content each week while juggling full time jobs, relationships and just the regular shit that comes along in life. I also don’t think we realized how much we were going to get on each other’s nerves or feel the need to gather each other’s edges in a Groupme in the middle of the work day. Call it part of the creative process. But none of that matters because  while we've had some ups and downs, we're still in the damn building!!

So mama, we made it. Now what? Well, we have a few ideas. We’re committed to bringing you fresh content that resonates with who we are as black womyn and exploring different media types in an effort to keep our relationship with you spicy and fun. We’re also committed to building partnerships with other minority-led entrepreneurs in our local communities and expanding our reach across the globe. We’re planning a ton of new opportunities to engage with you, including at least two events, and we’re entertaining the idea of a future publication. We want to continue to amplify diverse voices in our own community so we’re still accepting submissions and adding funky and fresh people to our writing roster. We’re also going to continue dragging those who deserve, praise those who are worthy, and discussing what it means to be a black womyn in today’s society. Do we even need to say “stay tuned”?

So, it's time for our Oscar worthy thank you speech. *Puts on my Oprah spectacles and pulls out my index cards* We, the 94 Percent, would like to thank our family and friends who have been our rocks and biggest supporters from the very beginning. Without you, we wouldn’t be here and special shoutout to Corey for being our first sponsor and eavesdropper on our conference calls. To every person who slid in our DMs or iMessages to tell us how much you enjoyed a piece or how you almost got in trouble at work for laughing at something in our newsletter, we thank you and encourage you to comment on the website from now on. We need metrics people!  To the wonderful people and partnerships we’ve built over the past year, thank you for your advice, support, and camaraderie. We can’t wait to strengthen our relationship with you and have more banging happy hours in the coming months. To you, our audience, we want to say thank you for reading our content, submitting your personal experiences, sharing our articles and basically just sustaining us through our darkest days. Finally, to black womyn, no matter who and where you are, we want to say thank you for being the baddest bitches to walk this Earth and we hope that you'll keep applying pressure to all of these asshole's necks. Don't let them breathe for one damn minute, sis. Thank you, we love you, and here’s to making the next year better than the last one.

Love,

Eve, Casey, & Nique.
